The National Weather Service has confirmed a second tornado in the area from Friday night’s storms, this one in Daviess County. The tornado was rated EF1, with peak winds of 110 mph, a path of 13.63 miles, and a width of 400 yards. The most significant damage occurred at a farm near CR 100S and CR 1025E, where winds near 100 mph destroyed several metal outbuildings, ripped apart two large grain bins, and hurled debris more than a mile away. A 2×4 was driven through the windshield of a semi-truck. Beyond the tornado’s path, straight-line winds caused additional damage, uprooting trees and tearing siding from homes. The town of Loogootee experienced widespread wind damage from the storm’s outflow winds.
