Carl Willis Chestnut, 71, of Odon, Indiana, passed away Monday.
Carl Willis Chestnut, 71, of Odon, Indiana, passed away peacefully, on Monday, April 18, 2016 in Washington, Indiana. He was born in Daviess County, Indiana on September 12, 1944 to Floyd and Goldie (Ash) Chestnut. He married the love of his life, Diana Sue Pruett.
Carl retired in 2005 from foundry management at the Kaiser Aluminum Factory and then started working at Crane. He was the first coach to allow girls to play baseball in Odon and because of him they formed a girls’ softball team. Carl was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Survivors include: one son, Steve (Shelly) Chestnut of Odon; one daughter, Tammera (Eric) Sherrill of Odon; six grandchildren, Charisse (Ethan) Graber, Cameron Chestnut, Chavannah Chestnut, Clinton (Rachel) Shafer, Meagan (Davy) Miller and Joncellia (John) Neideffer; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Roger (Rita) Chestnut of Vincennes; two sisters, Georgie Stanford and Carol (Larry) Kirk, both of Columbus, IN.
Carl was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Diana Sue Chestnut; two sisters, Helen and Darlene.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Pastor Debbie Payne officiating. Carl will be laid to rest in the Raglesville Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
