Charles E. Greenwell, 63, of Loogootee, passed away April 26.
Charles E. Greenwell, 63, of Loogootee, passed away at 6:24 a.m. April 26, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was born July 24, 1952 in Washington, IN to the late Joseph Harold and Mary Doris (Holland) Greenwell.
Ed graduated from Indiana State University with a degree in business. He then joined the United States Navy where he was a tin can sailor for 6 years. He was employed by NWSC for 39 years as an electronic technician. He enjoyed horticulture and agriculture at took class on it at Purdue University. He loved going with family and friends to St. Louis Cardinal games and NASCAR races.
He was a participated in SORE and helped teach individuals with learning disabilities. He was a member of American Legion Post 120, Veteran of Foreign War Post 9395, Knights of Columbus and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Ed was preceded in death his parents, Joseph Harold and Mary Doris (Holland) Greenwell; uncles, Kenneth Greenwell and Bud Siedel.
He is survived by his siblings, Martha Sue Greenwell of Indianapolis, Garth (Shonna) Greenwell of Shoals and J.D. Greenwell of Loogootee; aunts, Mona Holland Siedel of Washington, Sharon Holland (Dennis) Hedinger of Hart, MI, Rita (Ed) Lents of Loogootee and Maxine Fawett Greenwell; niece, Michelle York; nephew, Nicholas York; many great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 29, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess VNA + Hospice.
