Local governments, schools, and libraries to split over $3 million.
Daviess County, the city of Washington and other local agencies received their portion of Local Option Income Tax money this week.
A total of 3.4 million dollars released from the state ended up here to be split among over two dozen local government offices. 2.2 million of that will go to the county. Daviess County Council President Mike Myers told the Washington Times Herald (http://www.washtimesherald.com) 1.7 million is for roads and streets and a half million will go to the rainy day fund.
The newspaper reports over $808,000 will go to the city of Washington while $64,000 is being split among various townships. The largest amount of over $32,000 goes to Washington Township.
School Corporations will also see a cut. Washington gets over $51,000, North Daviess over $53,000 and Barr Reeve over $36,000. Those funds go into the school corporations rainy day funds.
Some fire districts, the Solid Waste District and libraries will also see a portion of the tax money.
