Several arrests and accidents reported Friday and overnight….The Chamber needs your help in decorating the Bicentennial Bison…
ARRESTS
-The Washington Police Department arrested a two local 19-year-olds on conspiracy to commit burglary charges. Zachary T. Boone and Brett M. Allen were jailed without bond last evening on the charges.
-Indiana State Police arrested 28-year-old Tyree D. Wells of Bloomington yesterday for being a habitual traffic offender. Bond was posted.
-53-year-old Kevin E. Quiggins of Washington was arrested for operating while intoxicated refusal and with endangerment yesterdasy. He was being held without bond after being booked in at 1:23 am today.
-At 3:21 am today, 30-year-old Evan Bryant Stoll of Washington was incarcerated on an operating while intoxicated charge.

ACCIDENTS
-At 7:40-am Friday, a passerby reported they witnessed a vehicle drive off into a ditch on Daviess County Road 800-north just off 650. No one was injured.
-Minor injuries were reported when a moped and a vehicle collided at just after 11-am yesterday on West Walnut in Washington.
-There was no damage or service disruptions when a tractor hit a phone line on 900-east and 25 north at 11am yesterday morning.
-At motorist did go to the emergency room after a crash in the noon hour yesterday on State Road 57 and Cumberland Drive.
-Authorities worked an accident at 100 West and 600- North at 10-pm last night. Several people signed statements of release and refused medical treatment at the scene.
WASHINGTON RELATED BIKE CRASH
A former Washington woman died this past week from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident in Seattle, Washington on May 13th. 27-year-old Desiree McCloud passed away on Tuesday. The information comes from the Washington High Band’s Facebook page. McCloud was a member of the Golden Pride while attending Washington High.
MEMORIAL DAY FLAGS
The VFW and American Legion posts in Washington and several volunteers are out and about this morning putting flags on military graves throughout the county….
Mike Heshelman with the VFW says they have 2000 flags to place at gravesites today.
CAMBER PUTS OUT THE CALL TO DECORATE THE BISON
Anyone interested in creating a design for the 5-foot by 8-foot fiberglass state bicentennial bison replica should contact the Daviess County Chamber of Commerce at 812-254-5262.
The Washington Times Herald http://www.washtimesherald.com/ is reporting today that Chamber of Commerce Director Samantha Bobbitt sent letters to schools earlier this year hoping to receive designs from interested classes but no schools seemed interested so she’s gone to plan B and putting out the call to anyone and everyone in the community.
The bison were given to counties across the state as part of the 200th birthday for Indiana. The Daviess County Visitors Bureau will pay for $1,500 worth of supplies to paint and decorate the bison.” Some surrounding counties have already unveiled their decorated bison.
BASSLER ON MEMORIAL DAY
Memorial Day is a time to remember those veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice in defending our country.
In his Senate Update this week, State Senator Eric Bassler says that this year the Indiana General Assembly died pass several bills supporting Hoosier Vets and their families. He says one law expands the Military Family Relieve Fund to cover all vets. Before the law, only those who served after 9/11 were eligible for the funds.
Another law requires the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) to work with Veteran Service Organizations to establish a set of standards for the unclaimed remains of deceased veterans.
Bassler says other action taken by lawmakers extends the benefits and protections found in the Service members Civil Relief Act to members of the Indiana National Guard who live in another state during a state-sponsored activation.
RENDEZVOUS 3
The grounds at the French Commons in Vincennes open at 9-am today for the 40th annual Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous. The grounds are full of enthusiasts and re-enactors depicting life in colonial America.

With the 40th anniversary there are some new features to the event. The grounds will be open until 9-pm Saturday night and there’ll be the first ever night time battle on the field. There will also be horses on the battle field for the first time.
Single-day admission costs $10 at the gate for adults, $2 for children.
Admission buttons good for both days cost $12. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
