Mary Faye Grogan, 88, of Washington, died Tuesday at her residence.
Born April 29, 1928, in Missouri, she was the daughter of Daniel and Dolly (Gordan) Allen.
She had been a cook at local schools and was retired. She was a member of Washington Church of Christ. An avid quilter and gardener, she was a humble person and had a servant’s heart. She always put others first. She and her first husband, Raymond, opened their home and raised six foster children.
She is survived by her husband, AV Grogan, whom she married Oct. 24, 1984; three daughters, Melba (Bill) Dawson of Washington, Rita (Ken) Eide of Petersburg, and Sheila (Mark) Petty of Washington; grandchildren Tony Dawson, Tiffany Osborn, Cameron Fields, Shawna Fox, Amanda Walls, Jason Petty and Natalie Sturbaum; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two stepsons, Steve (Cindy) Grogan and John (Rita) Grogan, both of California; a stepdaughter, Deborah Grogan of California; four stepgrandchildren, Becky Robertson, Chelsea Grogan, Patrick Grogan and David Smoot; and siblings Elsie Gage of St. Louis, Missouri, Dessie Bark and Arlyn Williams, both of Doniphan, Missouri, and Jessie Allen of Judson.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Shepherd; her parents; one brother; and four sisters.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Washington Church of Christ, with Bro. Christopher Wiles and Jason Petty officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church.
