Democrat Ron Drake had 68 more votes that David Orentlicher in May.
The recount of 8th Congressional District for the Democratic Party nomination starts tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. The recount will begin at the Clay County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office in Brazil. The recounts continue in the following day’s at the Clerk’s offices in Vermillion County in Newport and at the Parke County Clerk’s Office in Rockville.
The commission’s results will be used to determined just who will face off against Republican Larry Bucshon in November for Indiana’s 8th District Congressional seat in Southwest and parts of West Central Indiana.
Results of May’s primary showed Ron Drake of Sullivan County leading former state Rep. David Orentlicher (OR’-ent-lik-er) by 68 votes out of nearly 60,000 cast.
The two took jabs at each other throughout the campaign with Drake criticizing Orentlicher for moving to Terre Haute to run for Congress after formerly representing an Indianapolis legislative district. Orentlicher, meanwhile, questioned Drake living in Washington, D.C., for more than 30 years before moving to his Sullivan County farm last year.
