Rose Mary O’Connor

Rose Mary O’Connor, 90, passed away Thursday at Eastgate Nursing Home in Washington.

She was born on March 13, 1924, to the late John Edward and Mary Josephine (O’Neal) Smith.

Rose was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church – Barr Township. She was members of VFW Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, the Eagles and she was a Gold Star Mother.
Rose is survived by a daughter, Carrie Brett of Loogootee; sons, Charles Edward O’Connor, Richard Joseph O’Connor, George Ernest O’Connor and Austin Owen O’Connor, all of Loogootee; grandchildren, Sheila (O’Connor) Guy, Timothy O’Connor, Leesha (O’Connor) Jeffries, Douglas O’Connor, Philip O’Connor II, Shawnna O’Connor, Cory O’Connor, Tina (O’Connor) Hess, Edward O’Connor, Amy Garland, Jennifer O’Connor, Michael O’Connor, Rebecca O’Connor, Charles O’Connor, Ronald O’Connor, Christopher O’Connor and Ryan David Oliva; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Smith of Jasper.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Jospeh O’Connor; sons, Ronald O’Connor, Philip Stephen O’Connor and Timothy John O’Connor; grandchildren, Megan Rose O’Connor and Scottie Lee O’Connor; siblings, Cosmas Edward (Helen) Smith, John Forrest (Ann) Smith, Eugene Paul (Ann) Smith, Margaret Alma (James) Palladino, Hugh Flavian Smith, James Bernard (Mary) Smith, Robert Owen Smith, Francis Joseph (Martha) Smith, Edmond Paul (Doris) Smith and Eleanore Ann (Hubert) Hopkins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church – Barr Township. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
