Perdue Foods in Washington is facing some safety violations according to an inspection starting February 20th running through April 12th this year.
The Washington Times Herald reports that the Indiana Occupational and Safety Administration found employees were exposed to a crushing hazard from a piece of equipment by not locking out the machine before trying to unjam it. The other violations had to do with machine guarding on the turkey leg processor. The violations carry $6500 in fines.
The newspaper says Perdue says they are working on the violations. Perdue Corporate Safety and Security Senior Director, Frank Cruise, was quoted as saying they are committed to providing the safest possible work place for their associates. He added the plant has worked about 350,00 safe hours without a lost time accident and was recently recognized for for having over 4 million safe hours.
