The man accused of driving while intoxicated in a fatal accident early Wednesday in Vincennes had been charged with drunk driving before. The Vincennes Sun Commerical says 24-year-old Joshua R. Slone was sentenced to 60 days in jail suspended to a year’s probation on a misdemeanor count of drunk driving last year.
Slone is now facing charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated/prior conviction resulting in death, and driving while suspended resulting in death and involuntary manslaughter. All are felonies.
Authorities say Slone was the driver of a vehicle that went off the road at 1:15-am at River and Purdue Roads early Wednesday morning. 19-year-old John Creamer of Vincennes died in the crash. Several were injured and two were flown to an Evansville hospital. Accident re-constructionists continue to investigate the crash.
