Mark Jones in court Thursday

A pre-trial date has been set for the man accused of shooting and killing another man south of Washington last week.

54-year-old Mark Jonathan Jones was arrested for voluntary manslaughter and murder in the death of David Duncan of Washington.  Jones and Duncan are said to have argued after Duncan went to Jones’ home to retrieve some property.  Police say Duncan’s estranged wife was living with Jones.

Pre-trial for Jones was set for July 11th.  Earlier this week his bond was set at a million dollars and he had indicated he’d hired his own attorney.

A conviction would mean a possible sentence of 45 to 65 years in prison.
