Harold Loyd Burris

Harold Loyd Burris, 87, of Washington, IN, went to his Heavenly Home on July 16, 2017 from Timbers of Jasper in Jasper, IN. He was born on September 27, 1929 in Washington, IN to John W. and Ella M. (Baldwin) Burris. He attended Washington High School. Harold was enrolled in the Army in 1948 and entered the Korean Conflict. On January 19, 1952, he married the love of his life, Ruth Ann (Traylor) Burris. Harold worked and retired from the NWSC Crane Navel Base. He was a member of First Christian Church. He collected coins, civil war books, enjoyed hunting and working in the garden. He was an avid Cardinals fan and loved watching basketball.

Harold is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann (Traylor) Burris; children Paul Burris and Kathy Schnell; granddaughter Erica N. Kress (Joseph); and great grandchildren Shelby D. Roach, Madison T. Roach, and another on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law Donald Schnell; brothers Cecil Burris, Wilbur Burris, Earl Burris, Robert Burris, Kenneth Burris, Ray Burris, and Lester Burris; and sisters Marie Baker and Lillian Burkhart.

The funeral service for Harold will take place on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11am at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut Street, Washington, IN 47501 with Byron Holtsclaw officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Bethel Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.gillsince1872.com.
