Delbert Rapp, 84 of Vincennes, passed away at 1:00 am on July 17, 2017 at the Bloomington Hospice House in Bloomington, IN. Delbert was born on May 13, 1933 in Dix, IL the son of William Delbert and Rosy (Gates) Rapp. Delbert married Margaret Osmon on March 28, 1956 and she preceded him in death on April 21, 2016.
Delbert had worked as a Biomedical Electronic Technician for Good Samaritan Hospital and was a member of East Salem Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, IL. He was a member of the Old Post Amateur Radio Society, the American Radio Relay League and his amateur radio call sign was WB9UKG. Delbert also was instrumental in starting the Good Samaritan Employees Investors Club. He was a Certified Electronic Technician, and an avid genealogist. Delbert was a field radio technician in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
Survivors include son Neil Rapp of Bloomington, IN; sisters Wilma Hayes of Mt. Vernon, IL and Violet Coil of Mt. Vernon, IL. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret Rapp and a step-brother James Lewis.
Funeral services for Delbert will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN with Rev. Ken Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with Delbert’s family on Saturday from noon until the hour of service time of 2:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
