Final Event for Washington’s Bicentennial Celebration is This Friday

The final event of Washington’s Bicentennial Celebration is scheduled for Friday in downtown Washington and residents are encouraged to sign the Bicentennial register before it is placed in the Time Capsule. 
 
After a year-long celebration of the City’s 200th anniversary, memorabilia from the city’s history and the celebration, along with items reflecting current life in Washington, has been collected and will be placed in the Bicentennial Time Capsule.   The Time Capsule and the new pocket park, aptly named Bicentennial Park, will be dedicated with a ceremony at the Core Center Parking area at 4 p.m. Friday afternoon.   The items to be placed in the Time Capsule are on display at the Daviess County Museum and special tours of the Museum are on tap Friday from 11-3.  The Museum will also be open from noon to 5 on Thursday.    Washington area residents are urged to go to sign the Bicentennial Register which will be placed in the Time Capsule.  Once closed the Time Capsule will be kept at the Daviess County Museum, to be opened on the celebration of Washington’s 250th anniversary in 2066.
