A Washington native and Washington Catholic Graduate has announced he’s running for Martin County Sheriff.
51-year-old Andy Burkhardt is a Major with the Martin County Sherriff’s Department where he has served as a deputy for 20 years. He was a Loogootee City Officer for seven years prior to joining the county’s department.
Burkhardt is a Democrat and the only one from the party so far who has announced he’s running for the office. Current Republican Sheriff Travis Roush has said he is planning to announce soon his intention to run for a second term.
