Ernest L. Beasley

Ernest L. Beasley, 92, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Ketcham Memorial Center in Odon. He was born on April 2, 1925 in Daviess County, Indiana to Alvin and Forrest (Riggins) Beasley. Ernest married the love of his life, Grace (Farley) Beasley on March 3, 1947. She passed away on September 22, 2016.

Ernest was a US Army World War II veteran and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theatre Ribbon, European Theatre Ribbon with three Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal during his military career. He was a member of the Frady United Methodist Church, the Moose, Loogootee American Legion Post #120 for 72 years and was a Life Member of the Odon VFW Post #9627. Ernest worked for 30 years as an Engineering Tech at Crane Naval Weapons Center, retiring in 1976.

Survivors include: four sons, Donnie Beasley of Vincennes, Darrell (Diana) Beasley  and Roger (Tracy) Beasley, both of Raglesville and Jeffrey (Christa) Beasley of Odon; three daughters, Peggy (Roger) Nowling of Plainville, Anna Marie (Delbert) Raber and Cindy Ryan, both of Odon; nine grandchildren, Chasity Matthews, Abbie Swartzentruber, Cole Raber, Clay Raber, Robbie Beasley, Hannah Beasley, Jessica Echavarria, Lauren Bullock and Derek Clidienst; fourteen great-grandchildren, Katie, Hannah,  Emily, Nick, Gracie, Max, Nate, Callie, Harper, Dailee, Aviree, Karli, Milly and Briggs; one sister, Vivian Evans of Odon; three sisters-in-law: Anna Lou Meissner of Bedford, Mary Rose (Gerald) Frye of Jasper; and Maurcietta Farley of Carmel.

Ernest was preceded in death by: his wife of 69 years, Grace Beasley; his parents; one son, Anthony Beasley and one brother, Carl Beasley.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday, March 12, 2018 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Rev. Gerald Frye officiating. Ernest will be laid to rest in Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington, following military graveside rites by the Odon VFW Post #9627, Loogootee American Legion Post #120 and the Army Honor Guard.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, March 11 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Odon VFW Post #9627 or the Loogootee American Legion Post #120. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
