“The campaign is running exactly as planned” and Mike Braun says he plans to be the next US Senator from Indiana.
That was the word from the former State Representative from Jasper at a stop at the Washington Country Club Thursday to meet with voters.
Braun, an independently wealthy businessman who has pumped a million dollars of his own money into his campaign, told the Washington Times Herald he built his career in the private sector, unlike his opponents whom he calls career politicians. Braun is facing fellow GOP office holders Congressmen Rodd Rokita and Luke Messer in the May 8th Primary. The winner goes against Democrat incumbent Joe Donnelly this fall in one of the most watched and targeted races in the nation.
Braun says he feels there’s an appetite for someone who comes from a little different pathway, pointing to the fact that President Donald Trump won the state by 18 points a year and a half ago. He says he and Trump’s styles are different but he told the newspaper that the dynamic that elected Trump is still there. He expects to win in May and move on to defeat Donnelly in November.
