Raymond Rhoades Tillie

Raymond Rhoades Tillie, 87, of Washington, IN, went to be with his Heavenly Father while surrounded by his loving family on March 31, 2018.  He was born on February 28, 1931 in Providence, KY to Cecil and Geraldine (Raymann) Tillie.  He attended Washington High School.  He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1948.  On February 28, 1956, he married the love of his life, Barbara Ruth (Potts) Tillie.  Raymond retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service.  He served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars.  He received several awards and decorations for his service and dedication.  He also worked at Superior Ball for 34 years.  Raymond was a Bishop at the Washington Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints.  He was a Cub Scout Pack Leader and enjoyed baking, gardening, and fishing.

He is survived by his children: Theresa R. Leonard, Jefferey R. and Lana Tillie, Robert R. Tillie, John R. and Debra Tillie, Jody C. and Dianna Williams; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and sister Sharon Kaye and Russell Fowler.  He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Barbara Ruth Tillie; sisters: Dolores Ruth Tillie, Rosamond Tillie, Rosalie Larson, Joyce Purcell-Brown, and Jane Frye.

The funeral for Raymond will take place on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11am at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut Street, Washington, IN 47501.  Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 4-8pm and on Friday prior to the service from 10-11am.  Entombment and military graveside rites will follow the service at Sugarland Memory Gardens Mausoleum.  Online condolences may be made at www.gillsince1872.com.
