Putting money in the right accounts to pay the City of Washington’s share of the 15th Street Bridge project was the main focus of Monday’s City Council meeting. The Council took the necessary legal steps to move the money from the City’s Local Option Income Tax fund to the Local Road and Bridge Fund. Under State law, the Bridge project is being administered by the County, but City is required to share the cost. The ordinance making the changes in appropriations will be acted on at the next Council meeting.
In other business, the Council gave unanimous approval to a new ordinance that regulates the steps developers of property outside the city limits need to take to connect to Washington’s sewer system. The new ordinance codifies current practice and prepares the City for anticipated growth on the City’s east side.
