Our unemployment rate remains lower than both the national rate and the rates of all neighboring states, and we have the third-highest real per-capita income growth in the nation, according to the most recent data from the federal government’s Bureau of Economic Analysis. For more information on our unemployment rate, click here. Safe Swimming TipsWith temperatures warming up, more people are hitting the pools. The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) advises Hoosiers to take safety precautions when swimming in pools, lakes and other bodies of water. To reduce the risk of contracting or transmitting a recreational water illness, the ISDH encourages swimmers to avoid swallowing the water, shower before and after getting in the water, and thoroughly dry ears after swimming. INDOT UpdateThe Indiana Department of Transportation recently announced lane restrictions for U.S. 41 north of Vincennes for a slide correction. Beginning on or around June 6, contractors will close the northbound driving (right) lane of U.S. 41 about half a mile south of the exit to State Road 67. During this restriction the passing lane will be open and restricted to a width of 12 feet.
