(AP) — A judge has set a Dec. 10 trial date for a man returned to Indiana to face a murder charge in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found in her submerged SUV in western Indiana.
The Tribune-Star reports 55-year-old Kenneth R. Pitts Jr. of Terre Haute, who was arrested last month in Nevada, was booked into the Vigo County Jail last weekend. He appeared Tuesday in Vigo Superior Court.
An affidavit says Pitts bludgeoned 77-year-old Alice “Anita” Oswald after she shot him in the face during a burglary. The affidavit says investigators believe Oswald came home Nov. 9, 2017, to find Pitts and two others in her basement.
Oswald’s SUV was pulled from a Vigo County pond in January. A daughter reported her missing Nov. 10.
