Indiana Manufacturers Association celebrates Work-Based-Learning Programs

The Indiana Manufacturers Association welcomed over 300 employers, educators, and policymakers to the Employer & Educator Work-Based Learning Conference at the Ivy Tech Culinary & Conference Center, in Indianapolis. The program highlighted successful employer-driven workforce programming for youth and adults throughout Indiana. Some of the employer-driven programming featured during the day-long event included:

  • Batesville Co-Op and Manufacturing Camp featuring Hillenbrand, Batesville Tool & Die, Ivy Tech, and Batesville Community School Corporation
  • Integrated Technology Education Program (ITEP) featuring FCA USA, Hamilton Heights School Corporation, and Ivy Tech
  • Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) Program featuring Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana and Vincennes University
  • Lewis Cass Polytechnic Academy
  • Madison Consolidated Schools Cub Manufacturing Program
  • My Cook Pathways
  • Subaru of Indiana Automotive
“This event provided a valuable framework for employers and educators to build collaborative training programs for youth and adults,” said IMA President and CEO Brian Burton.

“These types of programs will go a long way in helping employers solve our growing workforce skills gap.”

Unveiled at the event was the IN-MaC Manufacturing Micro-Grant Program, opening up $150,000 to foster the growth of youth manufacturing initiatives around the state of Indiana. This program, which is endorsed by the IMA, aims to provide grant funding to organizations who implement creative projects that enhance youth’s experiences and exposure to manufacturing in collaboration with Manufacturing Day activities.

“This grant program will allow education, industry, and community partners the necessary seed funding to build awareness around the important career opportunities in manufacturing,” according to Dr. Nathan Hartman of IN-MaC.

The Indiana Manufacturers Association is proud to partner with IN-MaC’s efforts; and according to IMA President and CEO Brian Burton:

“These grants will greatly impact our industry, providing much-needed exposure
and encouraging our youth to consider manufacturing jobs as a career.”
