Jackie Marion “Jack” Godfrey

Jackie Marion “Jack” Godfrey, 75 of Washington, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 16, 2018 with his family at his side.

Jack was born January 25, 1943 to the late Alfred Norman Godfrey Sr. and Viola J. Fuller ( Evans).  Jack attended Lincoln High School in Vincennes and was employed as a cemetery grounds keeper for several local Daviess and Knox County cemeteries.  Jack was committed to his loving wife of 56 years, Beverly Kay Godfrey.  Jack enjoyed telling stories to their children and their grandchildren as they grew up and cherished the family that he and Beverly made together.  Jack cherished the family that he had within his church as well (First Bread of Life Apostolic Tabernacle) and was a Godly man who lived by the word which he spoke and preached there.  When time allowed, Jack liked to be active outside; He would hunt, fish, mushroom hunt, and do almost anything to be in the outdoors.

Jack will be missed by his wife, Beverly Kay Godfrey; children, Diana Godfrey Leonard (Terry), daughter, Christina Sims-Godfrey, and Rick Godfrey (Trudy); 9 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Imogene Boles, Connie Linton, and Judy Beamon; and several nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded by a son, Kevin Godfrey Sr.; Siblings, Mary Evalyn Edgin, Alfred Godfrey Jr. Sydney Godfrey, Charles Godfrey; half-sisters Mary Eck Stangle and Norma Lungsford.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Steven Brown officiating at the First Bread of Life Apostolic Church, 103 South ST. Washington, IN 47501. There will be visitation there from 10:00 AM until time of service.  Burial will follow in Oakgrove Cemetery. You may leave the family an online condolence at www.gillsince1872.com..
