The Loogootee School Board as hired Covington High School head basketball coach Kent Chezem to be the head basketball coach at Loogootee.
According to the Washington Times Herald http://www.washtimesherald.com/ , Chezem is a 1987 graduate of Clinton Prairie, who played four years at Olivet Nazarene. He also spent 10 seasons at Clinton Prairie where he went 112-106 before his 152-94 mark at Covington. The last two years at Covington he had a 40 and 4 record. Covington has won five White River Conference championships, three sectional championships, three Bi-County championships, and have twice advanced to the “Elite 8” under Chezem’s leadership.
The paper reports that following the 2014 season, Coach Chezem was named District 2 Coach of the Year by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, and Small School Coach of the Year by the Lafayette Journal and Courier.
Chezem will replace Mike Hopkins, coached one season and finished with an 8 and 15 record.
