A Washington man was ejected from his vehicle while driving on US 41 in Knox County Tuesday.
21-year-old Kayden Riggins was seriously injured near Camp Arthur Road when State Police say he was traveling south at a high rate of speed in an ’05 Nissan and hit a guardrail after losing control of his vehicle while passing another car. After hitting the guardrail, Riggins, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown out of his car into the passing lane. He was then dragged 160 feet by the vehicle he was passing. 83-year-old Nelda Rae Eaden of Vincennes, who was driving in a ’96 Mercury, had moved to the passing lane to avoid hitting Riggins’ vehicle.
Riggins was flown to St. Vincent in Evansville. Eadon, and a passenger in Riggins’ vehicle were not injured.
The accident happened at 9:37-am Tuesday morning and remains under investigation.
