Washington Street Department Announces Milling and Paving Work

The Washington Street Department says that beginning today, milling and paving work will begin on some Washington streets.   Those streets where paving will be done are:

  1. Lincoln, from Meredith to Front Street
  2. Meredith from Lincoln to Flora
  3. Flora from Meredith to Hwy 57
  4. Hefron from NW 3rd to NW 2nd
  5. Maple from NW 1st to Hwy 57
  6. Sunset from Bididinger to Flora
  7. West 3rd from Maple to the Railroad tracks
  8. West 5th from Walnut to Main
  9. West 10th from Downey to W. Oak
  10. and the Round-about.

The milling is expected to take 3 to 4 days, depending on weather,  Paving will begin around October 3, in reverse order.      Washington Street Commissioner Bryan Sergesketter says that if you live on one of these streets you will probably be affected and he appreciates everyone’s patience while the work in progress and the Round-About will be closed during paving.    Sergestketter says that “No Parking” signs will be posted in the areas this week.   The paver, “Milestone” has assured the City that they will make every effort to minimize the impact on each resident affected.  However, Sergesketter says that while the paving machine is laying pavement, driveways and streets may be unusable for up to two hours.  But as soon as the roller operator gives the “all clear” residents will be able to drive on the new street surface.   If anyone has questions they can contact the Street Commissioner’s office.
