Funeral arrangements are set for P.E. MacAllister of MacAllister Machinery and Caterpillar. The funeral is Sunday at the company headquarters in Indianapolis.
MacAllister died Wednesday after a fall at his Indy home. He was 101. Tributes and comments are pouring in from all over the state. Governor Eric Holcomb says he is “thankful for the impact this veteran, educator, corporate titan and all around Renaissance man left on Hoosiers and the world. He was a man of deep faith and compassion with a heart for Indiana”, the governor said.
Washington Mayor Joe Wellman told the Washington Times Herald that MacAllister was a delightful person to talk to and had a lot of vision. Former Daviess County Economic Development Director Ron Arnold told the paper he never heard anything negative about MacAllisters or how they operate. The company has an operation in Washington which is the company’s most southern location. P.E. took over the business in 1950. His father started it in 1945. P.E. was Chairman of the Board until 2009.
