An investigation is underway after stolen checks were reported by the US Postal Service. The USPS in Evansville became aware of the issue on Thursday. It is unknown at this time when and how the theft happened. The US Postal Inspection Service reminds customers that they are not responsible for any money stolen from the mail unless it was shipped with insurance.
