Joseph Cameron Ackerman

Joseph Cameron Ackerman, 73, of Loogootee, passed away on Thursday January 23, 2020 at 12:30 A.M at the Villages of Oak Ridge.
He was born on September 9, 1946 in Washington, Indiana to Albert Thomas Sr. and Eleanor Pauline “Polly” (Harrod) Ackerman.
Joseph was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Church in Loogootee, Indiana. For 40 years, he lived and worked in California as a Teacher and in the Entertainment Industry. Joseph had a special love for Disney and music. He authored a novel. Joseph liked to play guitar and had a beautiful voice.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Albert Thomas Sr. and Eleanor “Polly” Ackerman, and his brother David Brooks Ackerman.
Joseph is survived by his siblings; Albert “Skip” (Georgia) Ackerman of Loogootee, Ann Ackerman of Loogootee, his nephews; Eric (Susan) Ackerman of Loogootee, Dirk (Lisa) Ackerman of Ellettsville, Indiana, Cameron Ackerman of Loogootee, Brant (Renee) Ackerman of Washington, Caleb Ackerman of Houston, Texas, Nathaniel Ackerman of Houston, TX, and several great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 11:00 A.M on Saturday February 1, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St. John Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday February 1, 2020 at 9:00 A.M at St. John the Evangelist Church until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John The Evangelist Church in Loogootee, Indiana.
