Joyce M. Granger, age 74, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown in Evansville.
Joyce was born February 6, 1945 in Princeton to Harry and Marietta Gooch Jr. She was raised by her grandparents Harry and May Gooch Sr. She graduated from Princeton High School and attended Lyles Station Consolidated School. Joyce was a Tupperware Manager for 20 years. She also worked at Back Porch Treasures for several years. Joyce was a board member and Secretary of Lyles Station Historic Preservation Corp since its inception September 1998. Joyce was instrumental in contributing artifacts for the National Museum of Artifacts for African American History and Culture in Washington, DC.
Joyce is survived by her father Harry Gooch Jr. of Washington; two daughters, Yolonda Granger Bostic of St. Louis and Bobbie Granger of Washington; one son, Shane Granger of Washington; a brother Delton (Ora) Gooch of Princeton; sister Harriet (Donnie) Green of Washington; eight grandchildren, Brandon (Liz) Humphries of Washington, Perrin Granger of Washington, Brittany (Keionte) Copeland of Evansville, Caleb Murphy , Gianna, Kenadie, Karson and Kapri Granger all of Washington; seven great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Phyllis Morton.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Granger who she married September 11, 1965; her grandparents; her mother; sister Eloise Moore and step-mother Corrine Gooch.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel with Pastor Alex Pineda and Reverend Joseph Owens officiating with a visitation from 1:00 pm til the service time. Burial will follow at Wheatland Cemetery. A visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2020 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel 620 E. Viola St.
