City council approves resolutions on wastewater and Business 50 projects

       The Washington City Council approved resolutions that get two major infrastructure projects ready to go in the spring.

       The Council voted to refinance sewer bonds to finance the State mandated phosphorous removal project.  Mayor David Rhoads said it was a good move to make for the citizens of Washington

 

   John Seever, a accountant with financial consultants Baker Tilley,  explained to the Council that by refinancing the existing bonds, the City could use the $1.2 million from the debt service reserve to pay the City’s share of the project.   The rest of the funding will come from a state Office of Community and Rural Affairs grant.
The second set of resolutions set the stage for the sewer and water line work on the old U.S. 50 project to get under way.  Mayor Roads says the western part of the city’s main east-west corridor will see work beginning in the Spring.
