Injunction filed to stop residents from being moved out of WNC

Another big step was taken Tuesday to prevent any resident being moved out of Washington Nursing Center.  An injunction was served to restrict removal unless the family requests it.  A hearing on the matter is set for April 15th.
Matters came to a head on Monday when Chosen Healthcare, who operates the nursing began moving patients out without notifying families or community officials in a plan to turn the nursing center into a COVID-19 Treatment Center.  Coronavirus patients from other parts of Indiana were going to be transferred to the Washington Nursing Center .  Orders of Abatement were filed Monday to stop that.  That happened as a bus filled with WNC residents was being transferred to a nursing home in Hanover, Indiana. The bus was instructed to turn around.  Another bus loaded with residents never left but stayed loaded for awhile until issues were resolved.
Regional Director of Chosen Healthcare,  Eric Ahlbrand said Monday night the plans to transform the nursing home would not take place and residents will remain there.  The injunction filed Tuesday afternoon by the Daviess County Health Department is meant to ensure that.
