Some respiratory illnesses that were present before Indiana’s first confirmed coronavirus infection back on March 6th, were undoubtedly COVID-19 infections. That was the quote from Indiana’s Health Commissioner, Dr. Kris Box on Wednesday.
She says the first infections occurred at least two weeks before a Hoosier resident was officially diagnosed with the virus. That means that the virus was likely spreading for six weeks prior to the state’s first stay at home order which took effect March 25th.
Indiana’s death toll as of Wednesday was at 661 and officials say that will jump up today and tomorrow when the counts will include deaths doctors blame on the virus of those who did not have a confirmed test.
