DCH screening center to cease operations

Daviess Community Hospital announced some changes Friday. They say the final day of operation for their Respiratory Care Screening Site will be May 8th. A new process they report will be in place by then to direct patients to specific clinics for screening. Until then, the tent located in the lot east of the DCH medical clinic is open Monday through Friday 8 to 4 and closed on Saturday and Sunday.

CORE CENTER SCREENINGS – all who enter the building must check in at the first floor reception desk. 
RESPIRATORY CARE SCREENING SITE (RCSS) UPDATE

Located in the parking lot on the east side of the DCH Medical clinic.

  • Hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 8am to 4pm, CLOSED Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Final day of operation will be May 8, 2020.  A new process will be in place by that date to direct patients to specific clinics for screening.
  • Patients will be directed to this tent through calls to the COVID hotline (812-254-2764), telehealth visits with providers and preliminary screening at the ED.
  • Patients who come through this tent will be verbally screened.
  • Based on their answers, tests for flu or strep may be administered.
  • If tested, patient will be asked to pull into a parking space and wait for results
  • Based on test results, a provider will advise the patient on next steps.

  • All who enter a DCH facility without a mask are given one to wear.

PATIENTS COMING TO THE ED

A tent in the ambulance drive up is staffed 24/7 to receive patients prior to entering the building

  • If the patient is not exhibiting symptoms of the coronavirus, they may proceed to admitting
  • If the patient is exhibiting symptoms of the coronavirus, they will be masked and a nurse will conduct a further assessment.
  • ED – VERY LIMITED visitors at the discretion of the staff

TELEHEALTH VISITS/CLINIC HOURS
Please note that all clinics should be answering calls Monday thru Friday 8am – 5pm.  Check www.dchosp.org for phone #’s.

Hours below are when patients can be seen.  These schedules are subject to change at any time

1.  North Daviess Clinic will be open Monday – Friday

2.  Daviess Martin Medical Clinic will be open Monday – Friday

3.  Primary Care Clinic will be open Monday – Friday

4.  Grand Avenue Pediatrics will be open Monday – Friday

5.  Quick Care is open Mon – Fri 8am to 5pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm, Sunday 12pm to 4pm

6.  Health Pavilion TELEHEALTH appointments (not open for walk in appointments)

7.  DCH Medical Clinic TELEHEALTH appointments (not open for walk in appointments)

8.  Specialty Clinics – all specialty clinics/visiting physician) are only scheduling patients with an urgent or emergent need.

9.  Oncology will remain on same schedule (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

10.Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab will be closed until further notice.  All patients have been notified.

11.DCH Wound Care Clinic – Monday and Thursday 8am – 5pm

12.Orthopedics at CORE Center – Tuesday and Thursday  8am – 4pm.

– X-ray at CORE only available at CORE on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

13.Rehab Therapies at CORE Center –  New and existing therapy patients will be called by rehab therapy front desk personnel and essential acute conditions will be managed appropriately

14.Washington Surgical Associates –Monday and Wednesday 8am – 4pm

15.DCH Endocrinology Clinic – Monday and Wednesday 8am – 4pm

16.Oncology Clinic – Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

17.DCH Sleep Lab will be closed until further notice.

TESTING GUIDELINES

Daviess Community Hospital, Daviess County Health Department, and the Indiana State Department of Health continue to receive questions regarding testing for the COVID-19.  In accordance with the Indiana State Department of Health guidelines, the following people can be considered for testing:

1.            Patients who require hospitalization due to complications of their acute respiratory illness and symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

2.      Healthcare workers and first responders with symptoms consistent of COVID-19 who in their role have potential or  unknown exposure to at risk patients.

3.      Patients and staff (who have direct contact with patients) at long-term care facilities with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and otherwise no known COVID-19 contact.

4.      Persons experiencing homelessness with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and otherwise no known COVID-19 contact.

5.      Patients who expire with suspected COVID-19 symptoms.

6.      Patients and staff (with direct contact with inmates) at correctional facilities with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 and otherwise no known COVID-19 contact.

7.      Patients 65 years of age and older with symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

8.      Patients with underlying conditions with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 following CDC guidelines:

– People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma.

– People who have heart disease with complications.

– People who are immunocompromised including cancer treatment.

– People of any age with severe obesity (BMI >40) or certain underlying medical conditions, particularly not well controlled, such as those with diabetes, renal failure, or liver disease.

– Pregnant women

As the Indiana State Department of Health update their guidelines for testing, this information will be updated and shared with patients and caregivers of Daviess Community Hospital and the Daviess County Health Department.

VISITOR RESTRICTIONS for the hospital

–          No visitors younger than 18 years of age.

–          ED – VERY LIMITED visitors at the discretion of the staff

–          Behavioral Health Unit- NO visitors

–          Med Surg – NO visitors

–          Acute Rehab – NO visitors

–          ICU – NO visitors

–          OB patients are allowed 1 visitor (same person for duration)

–          Pediatric inpatients may have 1 parent/guardian

–          A chemotherapy or infusion patients may have 1 person

–          A Surgery patient may have 1 person
