It’s the highest unemployment rate Daviess County has seen in years; however, it is the lowest rate in the state.
According to April figures from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Daviess County has an 8.4% unemployment rate for the month. The increase due to COVID-19 related job losses and furloughs. That rate was 6.2% higher than the April 2019 stats.
Looking at surrounding counties, Knox County had a 16.1% unemployment rate for April, Pike County 15.2%, Martin County 8.8% dubois 10.6% and Greene County was at 12.8%.
