Just before 8 o’clock Friday evening, Sullivan County Sheriff Clark Cottom arrived at the scene of a shooting that had occurred at a gas station located on Old Highway 41 on the south side of Carlisle. Cottom then requested assistance from the Indiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division. The State Police say that 59 year old Faran Brown, of Carlisle, was shot shortly after leaving the gas station and having an argument with 65 year old Susan J. Brown, also of Carlisle, in the station’s parking lot. Faran Brown was treated on the scene by medics and then transported from the scene by ambulance. The State Police report says he is currently receiving medical treatment.
During the investigation, a handgun was recovered from the gas station’s lot. Susan Brown was arrested by State Police and is currently being held in the Sullivan County Jail on a $50,000 cash only bond. Susan Brown has been charged with Attempted Murder.
Agencies assisting in the investigation were the Indiana State Police, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department, Sullivan City Police Department, Shelburn City Police Department, Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, Sullivan County Ambulance Service, Sullivan City Medic 1, and Carlisle Ambulance personnel. Sullivan County Prosecutor Ann Mischler also assisted with the investigation.
