Russell “Jack” Free

Russell “Jack” Free, 92 of Washington, went to his heavenly home on Thursday, July 23, 2020,
Russell was born in Frankfort, OH to the late Isaac and Edna (Flesher) Free on January 25, 1928.
Russell was married to the love of his life, Phyllis (Bowdle) Free on October 2, 1948; and she preceded him in death on January 16, 2018. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his county in WWII. When Russell’s tour in the military was over, he started a job in 1948 as a Signal Maintainer for B&O Railway and kept that position until his retirement in 1990. Russell was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge, a lifetime member of the American Legion, and was a phenomenal card player. He enjoyed time with his family and was proud of the legacy he and his late wife left behind with them.
Russell is survived by; children, Kenny Free (Linda), Sharon Myers (Mike), Cheryl Snyder, and Tammy Elkins (Rob); grandchildren, Gabe Myers, Brandon Myers (Liz), Erica Free, Derek Free, Adrienne LaBorwit (Todd), Sam Williams (Rachel), Chandler Elkins, and Blake Elkins; great-grandchildren, Dylan Gunner, Alex Myers, Riley Poynter, Isaac Free, Elle and Liam LaBorwit, and Cade, Eli, and Abigail Williams; siblings, Franklin Free, and Marjorie Hollis.
He was also preceded in death by; an infant son; and a son in-law, Dr. C.E. Snyder; siblings, Hilda, Norma, Pete, Ronnie, and 3 infants.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 but will be private due to the threat of (Covid-19) please make any floral deliveries to Gill Funeral Home on Monday between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M.
