The Indiana Pacers finished their third and final scrimmage before the NBA season restarts with a 118-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs from the NBA’s “bubble” in Orlando. T.J. McConnell scored 14 points and dished out 11 assists off the bench for Indiana, while Myles Turner added 17 points and 10 rebounds. The Pacers will resume the season Saturday against the Philadelphia 76ers. All 22 teams in Orlando will play eight seeding games before the playoffs begin.

The Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates said it will form a committee to explore the “appropriateness” of the team name while also gathering community input. The name dates back to 1902, and the team said it understands the team name has not been endorsed by some, but emphasized the name has been used with historic and respectful context. The team said it is committed to engage, listen and exchange ideas.

Johnson stepped into a Chip Ganassi Racing car and said Tuesday’s test fulfilled a childhood dream. He told the Associated Press he wants to race in IndyCar “more than ever before.” Johnson had an April test at Barber Motorsports Park in Alabama canceled due to the pandemic, and then a test at the IMS road course earlier this month was postponed when Johnson himself tested positive for COVID-19.
Major League Baseball announced Tuesday it has temporarily suspended the Miami Marlins season through at least Sunday after an outbreak of COVID-19 on the team. At least 15 Marlins players have tested positive for the coronavirus. The Marlins opened their season with a weekend series at Philadelphia and as a result of the positive tests, MLB also postponed the Philadelphia Phillies series with the New York Yankees. The league announced it has conducted more than 6,400 tests of on-field personnel since Friday and no team other than the Marlins has had any positive tests.
