Yesterday the County Commissioners met with several things on the agenda to discuss. Dr. Holsopple and Chief Health Officer Kellie Streeter spoke with the board about a list of items to help with the spread of COVID-19. The list included a variety of items, such as, Thermometers, Cleaning Supplies, Masks, Gloves, and other PPE. The list also included Laptops, a Laboratory Grade Freezer & Refrigerator, as well as several Portable UV Disinfecting Lights.
Daviess County received $1,175,000 from the Federal Cares Act to combat the COVID-19 Pandemic locally. So far, the county has spent around $100,000 on PPE and other cleaning supplies.
The Commissioners allowed the EMA Heath Department $75,000 from COVID-19 Relief funds to use for all immediate PPE purchase needs. They also said they would review the cost of the UV Disinfecting Lights and other high cost items at the next meeting. Dr. Holsopple and Chief Health Officer Kellie Streeter informed the Commissioners that current supply status is good, but that it is important to prepare for the future.
