Pike County Seeing Increased Cases of COVID-19

Pike County now has one of the highest 7-day positivity rates for COVID-19 in Indiana. The most recent rate is sitting at about 17%.

The 7-day positivity rate measures the average daily positive rate for a week long period, with the most recent rate measuring tests between July 31st and August 6th. While Pike County’s rate is higher than other counties in the state, it’s actual positivity rate since the beginning of the pandemic is sitting at about 6%. Some people say they’re still taking precautions since the rate started going up.

Pike County is currently in the top five list of counties with the highest 7-day positivity rate statewide.

Pike County is just behind Dubois County, but at one point this week, Pike County had the highest rate. While Pike County has had less cases than surrounding counties, most of those cases have been diagnosed over the last month. 66 cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed in Pike County to date.
