Late Saturday afternoon around 4:30pm, Knox County Central dispatch received a call of a capsized boat in the Wabash River near the Memorial Bridge. The boat was located and the first officers on the scene first reported six people in the water. Vincennes City Police and Fire, Knox County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police then began rescue operations. Three children were on top of the boat wearing life jackets, and four adults were hanging onto the side of the boat. All seven people were brought back safely with no injuries reported due to the quick response of the rescue team.
