The Barr Reeve Viking Middle School varsity soccer team earned another victory on the road against the Bloomfield Cardinals with a score of 8-0.  The Vikings Middle School Soccer Teams will travel to White River Valley on Friday with start times at 5:30 and 7pm.
The Washington Jr High Girls Soccer team edged out a 3 to 2 win over Heritage Hills last night at the Sports Complex
Hatchet tennis over Tecumseh 4-1. Zach Gray won at one singles, Braden Kixmiller at 2, Brycen Neidigh at 3. Jaylyn Rook/Caleb Armstrong won at 2 doubles. The one doubles team of Owen Gray/Gunnar Jones lost a close match.
The Washington Volleyball team topped Pike Central in straight sets 25-10, 25-9, 25-13 to grab their second win and conference victory.  Washington finished with 11 team aces, 30 kills, 6 blocks, and 62 team digs.  Washington also grabbed the JV win in three sets.
Tonight, the Washington Boys Soccer team will celebrate senior night as they welcome in Forrest Park.  Kick off is set for 5:30pm, with live coverage starting at 5:15pm on Memories 107.9fm.
Notre Dame football paused practice Wednesday after the university announced Tuesday it was going to remote-only classes for the next two weeks. The move was made voluntarily and out of an abundance of caution as the team awaits the results of coronavirus tests. Since August 3rd, there have been 222 reported cases of COVID-19 on campus, and the positivity rate has been around 20 percent the last two days.
The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Chicago Cubs 9-3 in game one of a seven-inning doubleheader Wednesday at Wrigley Field, while the Cubs came back to take game two 4-2.   The Cubs were the designated road team in game two, which was a make up from an earlier series in St. Louis that was postponed.
The Cincinnati Reds and Kansas City Royals split a seven-inning doubleheader Wednesday, with the Royals taking game one 4-0 and the Reds winning game two 5-0.The games were overshadowed by Reds announcer Thom Brennaman using an anti-gay slur on a hot mic on Fox Sports Ohio during game one. He apologized on-air approximately two hours later during game two before leaving the booth. The Reds announced they have suspended Brennaman and will address their broadcasting team in the coming days.
The Indiana Pacers look to even their first round playoff series with the Miami Heat at one game apiece Thursday afternoon. Indiana suffered a 113-101 loss in Game 1 on Tuesday. Pacers All-Star guard Victor Oladipo left the game after just nine minutes after being poked in the eye, but coach Nate McMillan said Oladipo is feeling much better and went through the team’s walkthrough Wednesday afternoon. The Pacers and Heat tipoff at 1 p.m. from Orlando.
