Yesterday the Daviess County Council met for their regular meeting. At the meeting Bryant Niehoff gave the county council members an update on the Daviess County Economic Development Corporation’s efforts throughout this year. Niehoff mentioned they had recently participated in an evaluation program for their Response for Information. Niehoff stated they preformed well during the evaluation, but stated their website needed some work. The organization is now looking at redesigning their website to make it look more attractive to potential incoming businesses.
Niehoff also gave an update on the proposed commons project and stated that they were working on finalizing property acquisition, securing funding, and finalizing partnerships.
In other business council passed a resolution regarding interest in a rural real estate purchase at 309 E Heffern Street in Washington. Many appropriations were also approved at yesterday meeting. The council unanimously approved an appropriation out of the River Boat Fund to the Community Corrections Deficit totaling $213,776.37. The council also approved more funding for the Heath Department as they continue to combat COVID-19.
