The Washington Hatchet boys tennis team saw the season come to an end last night to 2nd ranked Jasper in the regional championship 5-0.  This team claimed the schools first PAC conference championship, going on to win sectional, and finishing with a record of 21-3.  Congratulations to Coach Johnston and the boys on a great season.   

The Washington Hatchet boys soccer team moved on to the 2A sectional championship at Gibson Southern as they defeated Pike Central last night 4-1.  Two goals from Wyatt Owens and a goal apiece from Bryan Morales and Tyler Boyd led the way for Washington.   Next up for the Hatchets will be Gibson Southern for the championship as they advanced with a 10-0 win over Vincennes Lincoln in the other semi final.  The host Titans head to the championship with a record of 16-0-1 while the Hatchets are 10-6.  Kick off is 7pm Saturday night on Memories 107.9fm.  

Last night in the boys Class A sectional at South Knox, South Knox defeated Lighthouse Christian 4-1, while White River Valley shut out Vincennes Rivet 4-0.  WRV faces South Knox for the championship Saturday. 

Tonight the Girls Soccer Sectional semi finals are set as Jasper faces Pike Central in game one, and Princeton meets Vincennes Lincoln in the second game at Princeton. 

At North Knox in the Class A girls tournament, Washington Catholic plays Vincennes Rivet at 5pm, and South Knox will face North Knox in game two. 

Tonight, it’s the 48th annual IHSAA Football pairings show in Indianapolis . The show gets started at 6pm.  The opening rounds of the football sectionals begin October 23rd in two weeks. 

Washington has announced the JV Football game schedules for Saturday has been cancelled. 

The Maui Invitational announced its bracket for this year’s eight-team tournament, which has been moved from Hawaii to Asheville, North Carolina due to the pandemic. Indiana is part of the prestigious event, which runs from November 30th through December 2nd. The Hoosiers will take on Providence at 2:30 p.m. Eastern on November 30th in the first of their three games. The winner of the Hoosiers and Friars will play the winner of Texas and Davidson. The other four teams include North Carolina, UNLV, Stanford and Alabama. 

The Mid-American Conference announced its shortened six-game football schedule on Wednesday, which will start Wednesday, November 4th. The Ball State Cardinals will open the season at Miami of Ohio, and the following week will contest their home opener against Eastern Michigan. The first three games of the season will all be held on Tuesdays or Wednesdays before shifting to Saturdays for the back half of the season. The MAC Championship Game will be played Friday, December 18th at Ford Field in Detroit. 

The Braves took a  2-0 series lead with a 2 to nothing shut out win over the Marlins yesterday. 

The A’s clawed back with a 9 to 7 win over the Astros.  Houston has a 2 to 1 series lead 

Tampa Bay is up two games to one after an 8 to 4 win over the Yankees 

And the Dodgers are up 2-0 after edging out the Padres yesterday 6 to 5.
