According to the Press Dispatch the Chargers Bridge between main Main Street and Cherry Street in Petersburg is being removed. The bridge was closed years ago to vehciles and foot traffic after being considered unstable. Once the bridge is removed, crews will begin work on removing the “Old Iron Bridge” on County 650 East. The Old Iron Bridge will be reconstructed and placed where the Chargers Bridge is now.
