Velma (Carson-Emery) Westphal

Velma (Carson-Emery) Westphal, 88, of Vincennes passed away peacefully at 10:20 am Friday, October 30, 2020 at GentleCare Nursing Center.

She was born November 6, 1931 in Decker Township to Dallas and Violet (Lowe) Carson.

Velma retired after several years as a seamstress in Davenport, Iowa. After retirement she moved back to Vincennes to be near her family. Velma was an avid quilter, seamstress, and sold Avon for 20 years. She belonged to the Happy Hoopers Club and Generations.

Surviving are her sons Gary Emery and Stan Emery of Vincennes; brothers Dallas “Bud” Carson, Jimmy Carson; and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; first husband Alfred Emery; second husband Robert Westphal; a son Karl Emery; brothers David Carson, Rex Carson, and Morris Carson; and sisters Lillian Bowling, Irene Cutler, and Amy Mahrenholz.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Tuesday at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home in Vincennes. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Velma Carson.
