Authorities rescued Knox County woman after her vehicle fell 25 feet into a ditch

Several departments responded to a vehicle accident around 8:44pm Saturday night. Indiana State Police, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and the Johnson Twp. Fire Department responded to a crash with injuries west of US 41. A 42-year-old female from Decker was traveling on Decker Chapel Road when she struck a guardrail and then left the roadway on the south side before dropping approximately 25 feet down into a ditch that contained a small amount of water. When officers arrived, they found the victim partially ejected from the vehicle and her head was pinned under the vehicle. Several officers and a couple of firefighters were able to push the car up enough for her head to be removed from underneath the vehicle. Officers and fire personnel continued to secure the vehicle while first aid was administered to the patient. When the fire department arrived, they were able to use blocks to help secure the patient’s vehicle before she was removed and airlifted to Deaconess Midtown for treatment. The Indiana State Police is investigating this crash.
