Eleanor A. (Potts) Gladish

Eleanor A. (Potts) Gladish, 87, passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Gateway Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.  She was born on July 6, 1933, in Petersburg, Indiana to O.F. and Phoebe (Elkins) Potts.  She was the 5th of 9 children, and is survived by 2 sisters, Sharon Gladish of Petersburg and Nancy Myers of Decatur, Tx.  She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1950.  She married Charles Leland Gladish on August 20th, 1950, and were married for 54 years.  They owned and operated a grain and livestock farm for 54 years in Alford.  She started working at Petersburg High School in 1970 as a part time dishwasher and later became the manager of the cafeteria with the consolidation of Pike Central School Corporation until 1981.  She was later employed by Hook’s Drug store, Rural King and Pamida.
She was a lifelong member of Alford Methodist Church and as well attended worship service at Algiers Methodist Church.  She was a past president of the Petersburg Homemaker’s Club, current member of Petersburg Garden Club.  She was a volunteer with JAM Club and Somebody’s Place.
Preceding her in death besides her husband in 2005, were 2 sons, Joseph K. Gladish in 2003, and Donald L. Gladish in 2019.  She is survived by 2 daughters, Karen A. (Charles) Eubank of Evansville, In., and Judith K. (James) Morris of Smithfield, Ky., 5 grandchildren, Brian Gladish and Brandi Gladish of Petersburg, Maggie (Shawn) Horton of Henderson, Ky., Jessie Hillenbrand of Winslow, In., and Sarah A. Eubank of Evansville, In, 8 great grandchildren, Jade Gladish, Alivia R. Gladish, Ashlynn R. Kirk, Malakai and Julianna Gladish, Alexis, Brody and Oliver Hillenbrand, and 1 great-great granddaughter, Braelyn Gladish.
Graveside services will be at 12:30 pm on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Walnut Hills Cemetery, with Reverends Mike Atkins and Steve Seitz officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Petersburg Public Library, P.A.W.S. or Walnut Hills Cemetery Fund.
Her life was enriched and devoted to caring for her family and many friends, but mostly to lifelong Christian service.  O.D. Harris & Sons Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
