There’s a new education sheriff in town. On Thursday, Governor Eric Holcomb appointed Indiana’s first Education Secretary, Dr. Katie Jenner. Dr. Jenner had been the governor’s education advisor, but now she will be in charge of public education in the state. Jenner replaces Indiana’s elected state Superintendent Jennifer McCormick. Indiana lawmakers passed a law back in 2017 to alter the position from an elected one to an appointed one. Her first day on the job is set for January 11th.
