All games, practices, and extra-curricular activities at all Daviess County Schools have been cancelled until at least December 7th at this time. The announcement comes as Daviess County has seen an increase in COIVD cases over the last few months. The Lady Hatchet basketball games that were scheduled for this past weekend were also cancelled on Saturday.
Congratulations to Trey Reed, Brock Thurman, Seth Holtsclaw, Louk Gray, Gage Memering, and Jayce Perkins for making the PAC All-Conference Football Team. Hatchet Nation is proud of you all, and it’s a great day to be a Hatchet.
Rodrigo Blankenship connected on a 39-yard field goal in overtime and the Indianapolis Colts defeated the Green Bay Packers 34-31 in a wild showdown between two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Colts outscored Green Bay 20-3 in the second half and overtime to improve to 7-3. Green Bay got the ball to start OT, but Colts rookie safety Julian Blackmon forced a fumble that was recovered by DeForest Buckner, which led to the game winner. The win keeps Indy in the lead of the AFC South ahead of next Sunday’s showdown for the division lead with the Tennessee Titans.
The Indiana Pacers traded forward T.J. Leaf to the Oklahoma City Thunder Sunday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowksi. The Pacers also sent a second round pick to OKC and will receive shooting guard Jalen Lecque. Leaf was taken with the 18th overall pick in the 2017 draft and did not pan out in Indy. The 6-foot-10 UCLA product averaged three points and 2.5 rebounds per game in 28 games last season, and shot just 28 percent on 3-pointers. Lecque is a 6-foot-3, 185 pound athletic guard, who appeared in five games for the Phoenix Suns as a rookie last season.
The Indiana Hoosiers dropped to number 12 in both the AP Top 25 and the coaches poll after Saturday’s 42-35 loss at third ranked Ohio State. IU was previously ranked ninth in the AP poll and 10th in the coaches poll. It is the fifth straight week Indiana has been ranked, which ties the longest streak since 1993. The Hoosiers are slated to host Maryland on Saturday. Notre Dame stayed at number two in both polls after a bye week.
